For my immersion experience I will be exploring more in depth into the topic of immigration perspectives from different individuals. As I have mentioned in the previous discussion, I will be watching a documentary on Tubi called "Which Way Home", and if I have more time then I will be watching a second documentary series on Netflix (this wasn't mentioned in previous discussion. There are also articles, and person immigration stories that I would like to read in order for me to fully immerse myself into each immigrants story. I think ultimately what I want to get most out of this immersion experience is to be able to understand/compare the struggles, and obstacles my family and I faced with the obstacles/struggles that other immigrants have faced. I definitely do want to be able to talk to my mom about her story because she was one of the individuals close to me that migrated to the U.S. and because of this, I also went through some struggles. Not necessarily because she chose to come here rather because of the language barrier. I would also like to hear some other close family friends/relative perspectives because although listening to strangers talk about their stories is incredibly interesting it's also fascinating to hear about people's stories that are close to us. I think that the questions I mainly want answered are what is your story? what obstacles/struggles did you face? how did you overcome (if you did) those obstacles/struggles? Hopefully, by the end of my immersion experience I will be able to understand more about how individuals from different backgrounds (culture, ethnicity, and language) experience migrating to a new country.
